The Rock Master at Arco is the most prestigious and historically important sport climbing competition in the world — an event that has been crowning the world's finest climbers in lead climbing and speed disciplines since 1986, when it was established as the first professional climbing competition format. The Rock Master format places climbers on a specially constructed outdoor competition wall in the centre of Arco, visible to thousands of spectators seated in the town's natural amphitheatre. The competition has been won by the greatest names in climbing history — Adam Ondra, Chris Sharma, Patxi Usobiaga, Gabriele Moroni — and the women's competition has an equally storied roll of honour. The September timing coincides with ideal conditions in Arco's outdoor crags, making Rock Master weekend the climax of the Arco climbing season. Free to watch from the spectator areas.
