Festival Mille Miglia
Descrizione
The Mille Miglia (Thousand Miles) is the world's most celebrated historic motor race — an annual event in June when 450 pre-1957 competition and sports cars drive the historic route from Brescia to Rome and back, covering 1,000 miles over four days through some of Italy's most beautiful landscapes. The race was run at full speed from 1927 to 1957, when Stirling Moss set the still-unsurpassed record of 10 hours 7 minutes; today it continues as a regularity event open to eligible cars of the period. The departure from Brescia's Viale Venezia is one of the great Italian sporting spectacles; the route passes through the Regione del Garda on both legs, and many cars stop at Desenzano, Sirmione, and Peschiera. The combination of machines (Alfa Romeo 8C, Ferrari 340 MM, Porsche 550) and the landscape creates an automobile event of unequalled aesthetic quality. Free to watch along the roadside.
