Festival Antico Vino Romano

Descrizione

The Festival del Vino Romano at Desenzano del Garda celebrates the extraordinary Roman heritage of the southern lake shore with historical re-enactments, wine tastings, and cultural events centred on the Villa Romana del Casale — one of the finest Roman villas preserved north of the Alps. The festival explores the Roman wine culture of the Garda area: Lake Garda was a major wine-producing region in Roman times, and the villa's mosaics depict winemaking activities in detail. Local Lugana, Bardolino, and Chiaretto DOC wines are presented in a historical context, connecting modern Lake Garda wine production to its 2,000-year heritage. The Villa Romana di Desenzano, with its in-situ mosaic floors, is itself a compelling attraction; the festival adds an experiential dimension to what is already a remarkable archaeological site.
