This was our first trip to Italy and chose the Agriturismo Corteforte since they produced my favorite wine! We arrived and received by Martina that spoke good English and helped guide us through our stay. She also did a casual wine tasting on the back veranda around the olive trees with some others that had already finished and were going back for their favorites….the wines are incredible! The rooms look just like the photos on the Internet. Our view out of our window was the vineyard which is breath taking. There is no humming of bath room fans or air-conditioning…just birds…breeze and oh, occasional notes of Italian conversation between family and workers. It is calming as you come off of the American energy buzz. Quietness. The breakfast is great…it was our first Italian breakfast of a 12 day trip and I would have to say the best capuccino. Many thanks to everyone at this property that made our stay so memorable.

Freundlicher Service.

We stayed in a beautifully reconstructed 600-year old tower furnished with fine antiques and modern appliances affording breathtaking views of the mountain foothills. The Agriturismo Corteforte vineyards, currently run by Barbara, are longstanding producers of some of the finest red wines in the region. It boasts 8 acres of vines that produce Amarone, Valpolicella and Classico. In addition, the Corteforte olive groves produce very fine extra virgin, cold-stone pressed oils. Upon arrival, we ate dinner at the Enoteca on the grounds. Dinner was served without any menu, with the guests choosing one of two entrees for each course. We start our Italian adventure with zucchini flowers stuffed with goat cheese and a pesto puree, followed by truffle-stuffed raviolis with shaved black truffles, then a sliced duck breast “secondi piatta.” Of course, a bottle of Valpolicella red wine complemented the meal. Wow! What a taste. We explored the old city of Verona the next day, about 13 minutes away from the tower B&B. Verona is Italy’s richest city and world famous for the summer opera events at Arena di Verona. We found café-lined piazzas and labyrinthine shopping facilities featuring all of the world-renowned designers. A favorite tourist stop is Juliet’s balcony, of Shakespeare fame, with a tariff of 6 euros to actually stand in the balcony.

We stayed here on our honeymoon after finding it listed on the Garda Lake site. What a find! It was totally peaceful, located in a small vineyard in a small town with beautiful views. The rooms are rustic yet clean comfortable and very quiet. The best thing of all is the breakfast, which is served from the restaurant that has received Michelin stars in its time. Eating there is an absolute must – for the quality of food and wine it’s outstanding value and totally delicious. Another tip – head up to the roof garden at the top of the tower with a bottle of prosecco at sunset and enjoy a magical experience.
