The Castle of Malcesine, located on a rock overhanging Lake Garda, is reachable by the only gateway to the monument known as the Siresina. Its construction is composed of three distinct levels or courtyards, which are accessible via drawbridges and stairs leaning against the walls. From the third courtyard you can admire the 31 meters high crenellated tower, a late stage construction compared to the main building. Moreover a formidable observatory is situated on top of the tower overlooking the lake and revealing a breathtaking view. Today the Castle of Malcesine houses the Museum of Natural History which is divided between the Garda and Mount Baldo section.
